Seagull Brand Origins
Seagull Guitars was founded in 1982 by luthier Laurent Brondel in La Patrie, Quebec, as part of the Godin family of instruments. The company focused on North American tonewoods and handcrafted construction at accessible price points.
Development of the S6 Model
The S6 debuted in the early 1990s as Seagull’s flagship entry-level dreadnought, combining a solid spruce top with laminated cherry back and sides. Minor updates over the decades included refined bracing patterns and upgraded electronics options on select variants.
Notable Artists
Canadian acts such as Blue Rodeo and singer-songwriters like Sarah Harmer have used S6 models in recordings and live performances for their reliable stage volume and tonal clarity.
